Known to shoot his films exclusively in Philadelphia, where he, his parents and family live, Night will film part of The Village in Pondicherry. This is the first time the director will shoot a film in India after his first film, Praying With Anger.

Set in Pennsylvania of 1897, The Village is about a community surrounded by a forest filled with odd mythological creatures.

The cast includes Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody, Sigourney Weaver and William Hurt.
