Mediocre, mindless, mild
The music reviews of Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, Waah..Tera Kya Kehna! and Paanch

Following in the footsteps of brothers Salman and Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan now takes to acting.
The youngest Khan began as a director with films like Auzaar, Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya and Hello Brother. In his new film, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, he directs himself along with debutante model-turned-actress Sameera Reddy.
The album comprises nine tracks composed by Daboo Malik of Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar fame. Thoda sa pyaar hua by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan shows promise. It has a melodious tune and is immensely hummable.
The title track by by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan is an indifferent tune. Dil churane lagi by Nigam and Anuradha Paudwal tends to get on one's nerves as it plays on relentlessly.
Ik deewana is reminiscent of cliched Hindi film tunes and the Mission Impossible theme.
The racy, rock 'n' roll number Shanana na boasts of a bunch of singers ranging from Abhijeet, Yagnik to Jordy, Srijit, Ayub and Daboo Malik.
Character actor Gufi Paintal pens Sona sona, a peppy bhangra dance track with some inspiring vocals by Nigam and Yagnik.
Aaja ve saajan by Alka Yagnik and Sunidhi Chauhan seeks inspiration from Henna's Aaja ve mahi in terms of situation and lyrics.
The album ends on a bright note with the breezy, romantic duet Kuchh bhi nahin.
In sum, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya is mediocre.
Music is not exactly the USP of Govinda starrers. Waah..! Tera Kya Kehna is no exception. The plot revolves around Govinda and his tryst with two women --- Raveena Tandon and Preeti Jhangiani.
The music composed by Jatin-Lalit does not include any lovey dovey romantic ballads that one normally associates the duo with. Instead, the album is flush with obnoxious tracks that are proof to Govinda's mass-oriented image.
Sudesh Bhosle takes off on Mehmood in Halloo halloo, with generous help from Anuradha Sriram. This forgettable track is followed by Karele ki shaadi, about which the less said the better.
Singing is not new for the king of comedy who crooned the controversial Meri pant bhi sexy in Dulaara. In Waah..! Tera Kya Kehna he raps the insipid I want money, with Shweta Pandit in tow.
The essential Jatin-Lalit come to the fore in Yeh mujhse kya hoowa and Mujhe teri nazarne, the only saving graces in the entire album.
The album ends with qawaali,Waah..! Tera Kya Kehna,
On the whole, Waah..! Tera Kya Kehna is avoidable.
After its run-in with the censor board last year, director Anurag Kashyap’s controversial thriller Paanch (starring Kay Kay Menon and Tejaswini Kolhapure) is finally due for release in August. If the soundtrack of the film is any indication, Paanch is a must see.
The album comprises eight songs, composed by Vishal Bharadwaj ( Maachis, Satya, Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega). Though the music is nothing short of refreshing, it may not find favour in cliche fed Bollywood junta.
Main khuda starts on a mellow note only to intensify into an electrifying crescendo. Singer KK pushes the vocals, though he tends to get carried away for brief moments.
Paka mat , featuring KK and Hariharan has comic lyrics by Abbas Tyrewala (Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karegafame) with the two singers ribbing each other. With its jazzy feel and Hariharan splendid vocals, this one makes for a good listening.
A known name on the ad-jingle circuit--Dominique Manuel Cerejo croons Yeh kaisa hai shaher with much gusto. This light ditty with its swing beat is a tuneful foot-tapper.
The theme piece by Dominique again sees tabla beats blend with classical arias and jazz scats accompany panting vocal sounds as guitars strums. A good fusion mix of east meets west.
Ustad Sultan Khan's rendition of Ankhiyan chipki is a treat for fans of classical music.
Asha Bhosle sounds pale in comparison to the zestful voices of Dominique and Sunidhi Chauhan in Jism hai.
Chauhan appears in another version of Main khuda, this time with K J Singh as arranger. Deva Sen Gupta’s rich baritone finds soul in Tapasa lingering memory.
The songs are mostly situational based lending a strong narrative element. All in all,Paanch is worth its while.
