Set in 230 BC, the film tells of Magadha's young prince, Ashoka (Shah Rukh Khan), who loves his father King Bindusara (Gerson Da Cunha) dearly and will do anything to please him.

Besides establishing his credentials as an expert statesmen and skilled hunter, Ashoka wins the hearts of his subjects, making him a strong contender for the throne.
