Yash Chopra never included stars for the sake of including stars, and this was no exception. A tight, taut screenplay, memorable dialogues and sterling performances by Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor made this film stand out.

And for a change, the writer-duo of Salim-Javed created strong-willed women characters to complement the men, rather than opt for the cliched decorative props.
