Amitabh Bachchan (Jai), Dharmendra (Veeru), Jaya Bhaduri (Radha), Hema Malini (Basanti) and of course, the inimitable Sanjeev Kumar (Thakur Baldev Singh) remain among the most finely etched characters in Hindi film history.
