Honorary Oscar for writer Ernest LehmanScreenplay writer Ernest Lehman won an honorary Oscar for his work. The prolific writer's include Sabrina, The King and I, Hello Dolly, North By Northwest, Somebody Up There Likes Me, Executive Suite, Who Killed Virginia Woolf? The Sound Of Music, among many others. It was but apt that Julie Andrews, his "fair lady, whose words of The Sounds Of Music still ring in my ears", presented him the award. He said, "I accpet this rarest of honours on behalf of screenwriters everywhere, and especially the Screen Writers' Guild of America." He also appealed to film critics and feature writers that, "Film production begins and ends with the screenplay."
