Simran campaigns for Amma

Whenever Simran looked at the crowd and smiled, the men who were allotted seats at the back went crazy. They jumped on top of the chairs and shouted with the faint hope that she would see them.

A man took the mike and admonished the crowd, "If you stand on the chairs, the meeting will not continue. Sit down. Everyone sit down. I am telling you once again, if you want to listen to your favourite star, you will have to sit down. Hey, you people in black, blue and red shirts, sit down." The man sounded more like a school master. I wondered how he saw the colours of the shirts in the dark.

When the school master realised that the standees in the 'class' were not listening to him, he said, "I know all those who are obstructing the view are DMK men. So, if you want to be seen as DMK men, stand up, or else, sit down."

The young men continued to stand much to the irritation of the man who spoke like a school master.

It was then that I realised he was Sharat Babu, the sitting MLA of the area. Perhaps he was a school master by profession.

Simran sat there smiling, quite amused at the way the man tried to control the crowd rather unsuccessfully.
