Dayanidhi Maran, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's member of Parliament from Madras Central and son of former industries minister Murasoli Maran, was among the five MPs from his party who were sworn in on May 22.

For the first time Tamil Nadu received the lion's share of ministerships -- 12, five of Cabinet rank and seven ministers of state.

Of these, the DMK has seven, the Congress three, and the Pattali Makkal Katchi two.
