The Samjawadi Party has not put up a candidate against Dutt, improving his chances in a constituency with a large number of Muslim voters.
Still, his supporters must know that the April 26 contest will be tough -- not because Nirupam is particularly beloved in the constituency -- but because of the considerable goodwill for the Vajpayee government in one of the country's wealthiest political boroughs. Which is probably why, after first saying he would not campaign for his father, Sanjay Dutt made an unexpected, though brief, appearance at one of Dutt's meetings.
Now, if Sanju hit the campaign trail these next three days, his father would have the election all stitched up. Hain ki nahin boss?
