The sound of crackers and the colour of gulal filled the BJP headquarters in New Delhi after the party's victories.

Many leaders attributed the success to the strategy of senior leaders like Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his deputy Lal Kishenchand Advani. The strategy of fighting the elections on issues of development and governance paid off.

BJP general secretary, Prakash Javdedkar declared that future elections would be decided by the 'B.S.P' (bijlee, sadak, pani) factor.
