Hours before the second phase of assembly election, terrorists on Monday night killed a policeman and took three hostage at a residence close to a polling booth in Srinagar district, sources said.
A team of policemen had rushed to the residence in uptown Gojibagh on receiving information about the presence of the terrorists.
As security forces cordoned off the house, sub-divisional police officer Mohammed Yusuf, Station House Officer of Rajbagh police station Bagwat Singh and two constables entered it.
Shafi, a constable, was killed in the firing. The other three policemen were taken hostage.
