Modi stakes claim to form government

Following the Bharatiya Janata Party's massive win in the just concluded election in Gujarat, chief minister-designate Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Governor Sundar Singh Bhandari and staked claim to form the government

Among others, former chief ministers Keshubhai Patel and Suresh Mehta accompanied Modi, who handed over a letter to the governor.

Modi was elected leader of the BJP legislature party on Monday. He will be sworn-in as chief minister on December 22.
