BJP disapproves of Togadia's 'Hindu Rashtra' remark

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday disapproved of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Praveen Togadia's remarks that India would become a Hindu state in two years.
"We are not for a theocratic state and are not for any state religion. If the VHP is saying so, ask them," party spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters in New Delhi.
Togadia made the remarks on Sunday, soon after BJP's landslide victory in Gujarat.
Expressing happiness over the outcome of the Gujarat assembly election, he said the Congress deliberately played on the "communal sentiments" of the people.
"Muslim hating or baiting is no secularism. This is our stand," he said and added that the party's efforts would now be to bring minorities into its fold and the Gujarat government under Narendra Modi would work in this direction.
