Elections 98
Chaudhary Charan Singh, the first prime minister to have resigned without facing Parliament, held this constituency from 1977, when he won it first, till the 1984 election. After his death, his son Ajit Singh succeeded him into Parliament, winning this seat thrice on the trot. In 1996, the SP's Mukhia Gurjar came second, losing by 199,000 votes. The BJP's Veer Sain Saroha was in third place, with 93,628 votes. |
