Elections 98
It has been a fair division of spoils between the Congress and non-Congress forces. Digvijay Singh was elected from here in 1984, lost to the BJP in 1989, and was re-elected in 1991, before moving to Bhopal as chief minister in 1993. In 1996 the Congress retained the seat courtesy sitting MP (he won a by-election) Laxman Singh -- the CM's brother -- who won 43.68 % of the vote. |
