Paras Ram Bhardwaj first won this seat in 1980 and has made a habit of it since then. The former Madhya Pradesh Congress boss has history backing him, since his party has lost this seat only once. But Bhardwaj's vote count, 61.2 % in 1980, declined to 39.88 % in 1996.
