An early domination by the Communists soon gave way to the Muslim League, and since 1977 this has been the pocket borough of G M Banatwala of the Muslim League. In 1991 Sait won from here, and in 1996 made way for his colleague Banatwala, who, incidentally, lives in Bombay.
