India's cricket team captain and honorary Lt Col MS Dhoni visited Drass and Kargil on the second day of his visit to the Ladakh region.

Dhoni paid homage to martyrs of the Indian army at the War Memorial in Kargil.

"It amazes me to see our brave soldiers withstand such rugged terrain and weather to protect our national frontiers," said Dhoni after interacting with the troops.

Later in the afternoon Dhoni visited Karu military station to attend the traditional Barakhana and shared a meal with the troops of Trishul Division.

He received a rousing welcome on arrival at Karu, which is located 35 km from Leh.

The soldiers were keen to interact with the wicketkeeper-batsman.

In the evening, Dhoni interacted with families and troops during a cultural programme at Rinchen Auditorium in Leh and retired for the day after dinner at the Corps Officers' mess.

His visit has come as a big morale booster to the troops deployed in the remote and inaccessible areas of Ladakh.
