Stunned by the selectors' decision to dump him from all three formats, senior Pakistan batsman Misbah-ul-Haq today vowed to make a comeback even if age is not on his side.

The selectors dropped Misbah from the One-day, Twenty20 and Test squads announced for the coming series against New Zealand.

It was the first time that the 35-year-old has been axed from the national team after he made a successful comeback to the squad in the T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007.

"I don't think age is any bar from performing well. Sanath Jayasuriya is still going strong on 40 and I'm also very fit and will keep on doing my best. As long as one is fit one can play at any age," Misbah said.

"There is no other issue with me and the selectors have taken a decision they think is right. I can only keep on giving my best," he said.

"I was not expecting that they would be drop me from all teams. I am really disappointed. I don't know why they have not considered me for any team because just today I have scored 153 runs in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and I'm in good form," he added.

Misbah also made it clear that despite criticism about his form, he was satisfied with his performance in the Champions Trophy in South Africa.     "I gave a satisfactory performance. If you see, the other batsmen were also struggling there and I was not exception," he added.

Misbah also made it clear that he would target a return to the team for the tour of Australia in December and would keep on scoring runs.

Meanwhile, sources have said that Misbah was axed on the insistence of chief selector Iqbal Qasim and captain Younis Khan who didn't want him in the team when the selectors met in Lahore.

Younis in his meeting with PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt few days back, which was held to sort out the captaincy crisis had also made it clear that he was not happy with Misbah's attitude and cooperation.
