India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat in the defending champions' opening match of the ICC World Twenty20, in Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Saturday.

Opener Virender Sehwag was forced to miss the match after failing to recover from a shoulder injury, but pace bowler Zaheer Khan was declared fit and included in the team after missing the two warm-up matches.

Pragyan Ojha was named the second spinner to partner Harbhajan Singh, while Rohit Sharma is expected the open the innings after his exploits against Pakistan in the warm-up match.

Earlier, heavy overnight rain cast a doubt over this match. But once it stopped raining around 11am local time, the newly-laid drainage facility ensured the match began on time without any reduction in the number of overs.

Teams:

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Kumar, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Pragyan Ojha.

Bangladesh: Mohammad Ashraful (captain), Mashrafe Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Shakib-Al-Hasan, Naeem Islam, Rubel Hossain, Raqibul Hassan, Muhamadullah Riad, Shahadat Hossain.
