The Indian cricket team on Thursday observed two minutes' silence before the start of the third day's play in the second Test against Sri Lanka, in Kanpur, to pay respect to those killed in the Mumbai terror attacks last November.

Led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the players stood along the boundary line at Green Park stadium around 0930 IST with heads bowed.

Earlier in the morning, 50 orphaned children marched into the stadium in candlelight procession in memory of the 26/11 victims. Some Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association officials also joined in.

The UPCA allows free entry to 50 orphaned children to watch the Test daily.

"Today being November 26, the children took out a procession in memory of those killed in the terror attack," UPCA media coordinator A A Khan Talib said.

Meanwhile, there are no security issues thus far in the ongoing Test. Security in the city was strengthened following concerns expressed by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.

Hours before the Indian and Sri Lankan cricket teams arrived in Kanpur on Saturday, a man carrying a revolver had managed to enter the stadium premises.

The police, however, denied he was involved with any terror outfit.
