Ashwin has taken at least a five-wicket haul in five out of the last six Tests India have played outside India. The only Test where he failed to take a five-wicket haul during this period was against Sri Lanka in Colombo where he ended with four for 69 in the second innings.
Ashwin is the first Indian spinner to take TWO five-wicket hauls in a series outside the sub-continent since Harbhajan Singh who also had two five-wicket hauls against West Indies in 2006.
Ashwin's career tally reads 188 wickets in 34 matches. In Test cricket history, this is the highest tally of wickets for a spinner after his first 34 Tests. The India off-spinner also has the most five-wicket hauls in the first 34 Tests by any bowler.
