Prolific batsman Mohammad Yousuf [Images] on Saturday said he has ended his association with the rebel Indian Cricket League as he wants to play for the Pakistan cricket team again.

Yousuf said he resigned last month.

"Since the future of the ICL is also uncertain and we have signals that we can be considered for Pakistan again, I thought it is better to resign and make myself available for the country," Yousuf said.

The veteran of 269 one-day internationals and 79 Tests who last played for Pakistan in June 2008 said he is hopeful of the Pakistan cricket Board considering him for selection.

"I am willing to give them documentary evidence of my resignation," he added.

Sources close to the ICL players confirmed that Yousuf is the only Pakistani player to have resigned from the ICL.

"Contrary to claims by Abdul Razzaq [Images] and Rana Naved that they have resigned from the ICL, only Yousuf has sent his resignation to the ICL organisers," a source said.

The PCB has announced that if the players resign from the unauthorised ICL by the end of May, they would be considered for national selection but they would be dealt on a case to case basis with the Board deciding what penalty they should serve before playing for Pakistan again.

Sources said Yousuf had resigned last month after the ICL failed to clear his dues since last October.

"Since the money is not coming, Yousuf decided to resign. He has been given hope by Pakistan captain Younis Khan his case would be considered sympathetically," the source said.

The ICL could not organize its tournament this year due to apparent financial constraints and the ICL announced this week it would be ending contracts of some players and officials.

Moin Khan, the former Pakistan Test captain who has served as the ICL representative in Pakistan, said the ICL organisers had assured the players they would get their dues cleared soon.

"I am not really worried because the ICL has been good on money matters with us," he said.

He said if Yousuf gets to play for Pakistan again he would be very happy but felt that the PCB needs to give a chance to all the other ICL players.

"I only want the players part with the ICL amicably," he said.
