Former India batsman Vinod Kambli began a new innings when he married model Andrea Hewitt at his suburban Mumbai home last week. The flamboyant Mumbai left-hander, who put on a world record unbroken 664-run partnership with Sachin Tendulkar [Images] in a school match when he was 17, played his last Test in 1995 against New Zealand [Images] and his last One-Day International against Sri Lanka [Images] in 2000.
Now 34, looking slim and trim, he says he is looking to stage a comeback to the team 'with a vengeance'.
'People have written me off,' he says, 'but I want to play for Mumbai and my country.'
'I have made nine comeback to the team,' Kambli declared at a recent press conference in Mumbai. 'I'm looking forward to my tenth.'
