There was a huge roar from the crowd as Brian Lara [Images] walked out for the toss with Rahul Dravid [Images] in the ICC [Images] Champions Trophy match at the Sardar Patel Gujarat stadium, Motera, in Ahmedabad, on Thursday.
The West Indies [Images] skipper, who was doubtful for the crucial game due to back spasms, won the toss and elected to field.
India went into the match with a four-pronged pace attack, with Rudra Pratap Singh replacing Ramesh Powar [Images].
In the first league match, the South African fast bowlers made a huge impact and led the team to a 78-run win over Sri Lanka [Images].
The West Indies made one change to their team, the experienced Shivnarine Chanderpaul [Images], who missed the last game due to food poisoning, came in for Wavell Hinds.
