Wicketkeeper-batsman Mark Boucher [Images] will lead South Africa [Images] in the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka [Images], Cricket South Africa said on Monday.
Chairman of selectors Haroon Lorgat said Ashwell Prince [Images], who became the first coloured cricketer to lead South Africa in the preceding Test series, will remain in the 14-man ODI squad.
"With Ashwell not a certainty in our one-day side, we have asked Boucher to lead the team," Lorgat said in the CSA statement.
Graeme Smith [Images], the original skipper, was ruled out of the series after suffering an ankle injury while jogging in his native Cape Town.
Vice-captain Jacques Kallis [Images] was already out with an injury.
The tri-series, also featuring Sri Lanka and India, will be played from August 14 to 29.
