Half tons from Yusuf Pathan and opener Connor Willams helped Baroda to put up a total of 229 runs in their first inning against Hydrabad on the opening day of Elite B Group Ranji Trophy match at Motibag ground in Baroda on Tuesday.

At the close, Hyderabad were 28 runs for one wicket with Abhinav Kumar batting on five and Absolom on 10.

Put into bat after losing the toss, Baroda lost their first wicket of Satyajit Parab at a total of 12 runs. But later opener Williams and wicket keeper batsman Pinal Shah added 99 valuable runs for the second wicket.

At lunch, Baroda were 103 runs for the loss of one wicket.

After the first session, Hyderabad medium pacers Absolom and Kaushik Raddy never allowed Baroda batsman to settle down.

After the fall of Williams (63) and Penal (41), it was the turn of Yusuf Pathan. He responded well to the challenge by scoring 72 runs which contained 9 fours. The eight wicket partnership between Yusuf and Shekhar Joshi produced 60 runs.

Absolom took 4 vital wickets of Williams, Parab, Kiran Powar and Jacob Martin by giving away 51 runs. While another medium pacer Kaushik Raddy took three wickets by conceding 58 runs.

Hyderabad lost their opener Shashank Nag at a total of 17 runs in their first innings.
