Wright happy with govt. action

December 08, 2004 13:42 IST

Unperturbed at the death threat issued by a militant group in Bangladesh, India coach John Wright on Wednesday hailed the government's actions to ensure full-proof security for the players during the coming series in Bangladesh.

"The government representatives have done their job surely meticulously. We know how well they did it before the Pakistan tour," Wright told newspersons before leaving the team hotel for the airport this morning.

While declining to comment on the death threat issue, the coach said the government representatives, who under the current circumstances were a part lay in the Tests, the coach said "we will field the strongest side".

Wright, however, evaded a reply to a question on the possibility of his continuing as the team coach after the 2004-05 season.

Later the Indian team's departure from the hotel for the airport was delayed after the bus they were traveling in was detected with a technical problem.

The bus carrying the 15-member team along with coach John Wright returned 10 minutes after leaving the hotel at around 0945 IST after a gearbox problem was detected in the vehicle.

The players had to board another bus to leave for the NSC Bose International Airport to aboard an Indian Airlines flight for Dhaka.

As per the revised schedule, the first Test would be played from December 10 instead of December 9 as scheduled earlier. The team will play two Tests and three one-day internationals.
