The West Indian renaissance?

Ramnaresh Sarwan was given the vice-captaincy during the series and he responded admirably. The talented right-hander scored a century in the fourth Test to help lead his side to victory. He fought fire with fire, got under the skin of the Australians and emerged on top. His flare-up with Glenn McGrath seemed to galvanise the entire team and they presented a united front.

Sarwan averaged 47.83 in the series.
