The Top 5 Sub-5 Wicket Hauls
Ambrose: One of the greatest Test matches ever. Australia was set 186 to win. Ambrose took key wickets at the top and middle of the innings and Australia was soon 102 for 8 and 144 for 9. May and McDermott added 42 before Walsh dismissed McDermott 1 run short of the third tie in history. Ambrose took the wickets of Boon, Steve Waugh, Border and Hughes. Griffith H.C: Australia was set to score 251 to win in the last innings and soon collapsed to 75 for 6. There was some recovery of shorts but the West Indian fast bowlers led by Griffith bowled with fire and Australia fell 30 runs short. Griffith took the wicket of Woodfull, Bradman (for 0), Oldfield and the last wicket of Grimmett. Iqbal Qasim: This was Gavaskar's swan song. After two very low totals, Pakistan batted well and set India to score 221 to win. Only Gavaskar stayed firm and played what many feel was his best innings. He was dismissed by Iqbal Qasim for 96 and India lost by 16 runs. In addition, Qasim took the wickets of Azharuddin, Shastri and Kapil Dev. Voce: Voce's collection of top order batsman at low costs is unmatched in history of Cricket. He dismissed Fingleton for 12, O'Brien for 0, Bradman for 0 and McCabe for 13. It is interesting to note that this collection of wickets gives him the highest "Dismissed Batsman Quality Index". England won comfortably by an innings. J.Reid: South Africa was set 314 to win and Reid's bowling is one of the most accurate and effective in Cricket history. His analysis reads 45.0 - 27 - 44 - 4. His "Accuracy Index" is one of the highest. He took the wickets of Barlow, Waite, Bland and Lance. New Zealand won by 40 runs.
