Arjun Yadav hits century in drawn match
England managed to draw their three-day under-19 match against South Zone, in Madras on Wednesday.
Requiring to make 294 in 41 overs, including 20 mandatory
overs, on the final day, England ended up scoring 110 for 4, when the rival
captains agreed to call off the match at the end of the
15th over.
G J Muchall was not out with 48 runs (five fours) and captain Mark Wallace on two when the match was called off.
Earlier, South Zone declared their second innings at 201
for 4, with captain Arjun Yadav hitting an unbeaten 101 which included nine fours and a six.
Opener Suman made 53 (eight fours).
England spinner Panesar took three wickets for 40 runs and Tremlett 1 for 38.
In their second essay, England were helped by a 63-run
stand for the third wicket between Muchall and Sadler, who made
32.
The visitors will take on the India under-19 team in their second
four-day cricket Test, beginning in Madras on January 20.
