Video sharing web site, YouTube, has been down for almost an hour now.
The service, when one tries to access it, displays an error message: '500 Internal Server Error' or 'Http/1.1 Service Unavailable'.
Social networking sites were agog with messages related to the outage as users the world over noticed that the service was not working.
There is no news from Google about the reason for the outage.
