Indian flagThe Centre has appointed 15 certified global agencies for managing security issues which marred the entry and expansion of foreign telecom companies in India.

"The government will appoint global agencies certified to check operations of foreign companies trying to foray into and expanding their footprint in India.

"Each telecom firm will have to get clearance from one agency," said D K Ghosh, chairman and managing director, ZTE India, on the sidelines of a Confederation of Indian Industries-organised summit.

The government is concerned about the spyware and malware associated with imported telecom gear.

India had demanded that global telecom gear makers place source codes and design elements in an escrow account.
