Volatile Sensex ends up 150 points

The Sensex on Friday opened 73 points down at 13,664.

The index touched a low of 13,611, and then rebounded into the positive zone backed by smart gains in Reliance and Larsen & Toubro.

The index exhibited high volatility for most part of the day. However, in the last hour the index displayed sidewards movement.

The Sensex finally ended 150 points higher at 13,887. The index had dropped 565 points in the last two trading sessions. The NSE Nifty ended at 4,239, up 28 points.

INDEX MOVERS...

Larsen & Toubro and ICICI Bank added over 4.5% to Rs 1,301 and Rs 703, respectively.

Reliance was up 3% at 2,183.

NTPC and Sun Pharma gained over 1.5% each to Rs 216 and Rs 1,289, respectively.

...AND THE SHAKERS

Sterlite slipped over 4% to Rs 508. Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors dropped around 3.5% each to Rs 630 and Rs 346, respectively.

ONGC and Hindalco declined over 2.5% each to Rs 1,045 and Rs 77, respectively.

DLF, TCS, Grasim and Reliance Communications were down 2% each.

The market breadth was positive, out of 2,782 shares traded, 2,135 advanced, 598 declined and 49 were unchanged on the BSE.
