The government on Thursday said steps are being taken to make Railways' centralised enquiry system more user-friendly.

Admitting that complaints have been received regarding advertisement jingles and providing inaccurate information, Minister of Sate for Railways K H Muniyappa said orders have been issued to correct the services offered.

"Instructions have been issued to air ad jingles only during call waiting time and enquiry processing time," the Minister said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

Besides, proper feeding of data in the national train enquiry system to provide accurate information on time is being monitored, he said.

The 139 centralised enquiry systems of railways, which was launched about two years back, receives about seven lakh calls per day.

The Railways are also contemplating to start another number to reduce the burden on the existing service and de-clog the network.
