The Maharashtra government on Friday announced that proposed flyovers and roads in Mumbai would have noise arresters to curb sound pollution.
"A committee would be formed for setting up noise arresters for proposed roads and flyovers in the city," Minister of State for Urban Development Hasan Mushrif informed the Legislative Council.
NCP MLC Vasant Pawar raised the issue and said noise arresters should be set up at new roads in the city to reduce noise pollution.
Echoing sentiments of Pawar, BJP MLC Nitin Gadkari said noise arresters were set up at JJ flyover in south Mumbai during Shiv Sena-BJP rule by spending crores of rupees.
He suggested that the government can now think of new advanced technologies to reduce the pollution levels.
Mushrif assured the members to look into the matter by forming a committee on the issue.
