William (Bill) H Gates, chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft Corporation, was in India for 24 hours.

On Wednesday evening, he hosted a dinner to mark 25 years of Microsoft and a ten-year presence in India for CEOs in New Delhi.

On Thursday, Gates addressed a press conference with Infosys chairman N R Narayana Murthy to announce a strategic global relationship between the two companies.

He then met with the chief ministers of 10 states and chatted with Information Technology Minister Pramod Mahajan. He also launched the Indian version of the Microsoft Network portal, msn.co.in. Microsoft India also unveiled the new .NET platform.

The Harvard dropout is the richest man on the planet with a wealth of $ 58 billion. This is his second trip to India in three years. With wife Melinda, Gates has endowed a foundation with more than $ 17 billion to support philanthropic initiatives in the areas of global health and learning.
