The broader markets underperformed benchmark indices as the BSE Mid-cap and Small-cap tumbled over 2%.
ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank dipped between 1-2% each.
Sensex gained over 100 points and ended at 26147.33 while the Nifty ended 27 points higher at 7,795.75.
BSE Sensex ended at 25,549.72 up by 321 points or 1.27% and the Nifty ended 7624.40 up by 97.75 points or 1.30%.
BSE Mid-cap index ended lower by over 2.5% and BSE Small-cap index tumbled over 3%.
Market breadth on the BSE ended firm as 1,908 shares advanced and 1,156 shares declined
