The apex court said there was no law, which prohibits live-in relationship or pre-marital sex. The apex court made the observation while reserving its judgment on a special leave petition filed by noted south Indian actress Khusboo seeking to quash 22 criminal cases filed against her after she allegedly endorsed pre-marital sex in interviews to various magazines in 2005.
The decision to make it public was taken last week after CJI K G Balakrishnan and other judges finalised the details of their assets during the Dusshera and Diwali festivals with some of them availing the services of professional chartered accountants for the purpose.

The Bench also rejected the counsel's plea for a direction to the Jharkhand High Court to dispose off the criminal appeal filed by Bhushan against his conviction.
