Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday announced that their new cricket coach to replace Bob Woolmer will be a Pakistani, triggering speculation that it could be former player Mudassar Nazar.

"We have lost our coach. We have kept all our options open... most likely it could be a Pakistani," PCB Chairman Naseem Ashraf told a press conference in Lahore.

Immediately media speculated that it could be the country's allrounder Nazar, who played 76 Tests for Pakistan from 1976 to 1989.

Ashraf said a decision on the new captain and vice-captain had been put off possibly for a month.

"I will think about it in cool and a considerate manner. Help from country's cricketing minds will be taken on this before making announcement in next 30 days," he said.

"We have no immediate international commitments for next 4-5 months, so there is ample time to put our house in order," he added.

The PCB Chief also said all Pakistani players' contracts had been suspended by the Board.

Ashraf, who has been asked to continue as the PCB Chief despite Pakistan's World Cup debacle, emphasised the importance of discipline in the team during their oversees tours.

"In the new Pakistani contracts, I will see there is discipline among team members at all levels. Managers can fine players for indiscipline as they will sign a code of conduct. Strict action will be taken for the violation of code of conduct," he said.

Ashraf also announced that from now on current form would be taken into account and fitness would be given utmost importance.

"It's my duty to see that a player who has a career of five years could be able to enhance it to 7-10 years. They have to understand why Brian Lara at the age of 37 could do all the acrobatics on the field.

"The time has ended in Pakistan cricket that a player will play on his past laurels," he added.
