Missile strikes Kuwait City

rediff Newsdesk | March 29, 2003 05:09 IST

A missile struck the Kuwait City shortly before 0200 hours [local time] on Saturday.

It fell into water just off the Kuwaiti coast, damaging a shopping centre. Thick smoke could be seen on the horizon.

There were no air raid sirens and it was not clear where the missile came from.

Since the start of the United States-led aggression, Iraq has fired a few missiles on Kuwait. But they either fell harmlessly or were intercepted by US Patriot missiles.
