Chirac, Annan to join Russia-Germany talks on Iraq
April 08, 2003 21:10 IST
French President Jacques Chirac and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan are to join Russian leader Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder at talks this weekend in St Petersburg, the Kremlin said. France, Germany and Russia formed the backbone of opposition to the US military campaign in Iraq, calling instead for diplomatic efforts through the United Nations to ensure Baghdad was free of banned arms.
