Fresh pics of Saddam, sons on Iraqi TV

rediff newsdesk | April 06, 2003 12:31 IST

Iraqi television on Sunday showed what it said were fresh pictures of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein meeting some top military and civilian officials, including his sons Uday and Qusay.

Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed al Sahhaf was on TV this morning claiming that the Iraqi forces were in complete control of the capital city of Baghdad and the Saddam Hussein International Airport on its outskirts.

US-led coalition forces have said they have complete control of the airport, but haven't yet released any convincing images to support that claim.

On Saturday, reports emanating from the coalition camp had suggested that a tank unit had entered Baghdad and, in the process, killed over a thousand Iraqi troops.
