Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad
The Hyderabad city police on Wednesday booked cases against two Indians -- Ayub Ali Khan and Mohammed Azmath Jaweed -- for furnishing wrong information while seeking passports.
Both Jaweed and Khan are in FBI custody in the US for their suspected involvement in last week's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
Station House Officer Riasath Ali Khan told rediff.com that the cases have been registered at the Hussaini Alam police station against the duo under Section 12 of the Indian Passport Act, 1967 and Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
The SHO said both Ayub and Jaweed were in their mid-30s when they applied for passports, but had falsely inflated their ages.
They had also mentioned their marital status falsely as "married." Ayub's real name is Syed Gul Mohammed Shah.
