Musharraf's remarks about India unwarranted: India

India on Wednesday night termed as 'unwarranted' the remarks made against it by Pakistan President Gen Pervez Musharraf during his televised address to the nation.

"I thought some of his remarks about India were unwarranted. We have no hostility or animosity towards Islam. We can't. We have more Muslims than Pakistan. Islam is part of our legacy and culture," India's ambassador to the United States Lalit Mansingh told CNN.

Asked to comment on Musharraf's question about India's interest in Afghanistan, the former foreign secretary said, "Of course, we have an interest in Afghanistan, which is our neighbour and has historic and cultural links with India."

Besides, Afghanistan has been a source of terrorism in certain parts of India, Mansingh said adding "I was really very disappointed with the remarks" by the Pakistani president.
