Describing the United States role in creation of post-Taleban interim dispensation in Afghanistan as 'helping, facilitating, pushing and prodding', Washington has said that ultimately the Afghan leaders will have to decide what kind of provisional government they want.
"Our presence is very, very important but it will have to be for the Afghan leaders to decide what kind of provisional government will be put in place," US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, told CNN ahead of the Bonn meeting of various Afghan factions on Tuesday.
Cautioning the countrymen to expect casualties in the Afghan war, he said "The US is after terrorism wherever it is -- terrorism with a global reach that can affect US interests or the interests of its friends."
When asked about President George W Bush's statement on Monday that Iraq should allow the UN inspectors in to make sure that the country is not producing weapons of mass destruction, Powell said it was a 'sober, chilling message' to Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.
