A pro-Taleban Uzbek guerrilla chief, Djuma Namangani, had been killed in the northern Afghan city of Kunduz, Northern Alliance commander General Abdul Rashid Dostum told BBC's Uzbek service on Monday.
"According to our information, Namangani and 24 of his followers were killed in Kunduz, where fierce fighting is taking place," Dostum said.
According to Northern Alliance officials, Namangani recently became a right-hand man of terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden.
