An Emirates airliner landed safely in Aden, southern Yemen, on Monday after a cockpit warning light suggested mechanical trouble, an Emirates spokeswoman said.
"One of the indicator lights came on in the cockpit and the captain decided to go to the nearest airport," said Francis Barton of the Dubai government-owned company.
"It has just landed safely," she added.
The 272 passengers and 15 crew on flight EK 423, a Boeing 777-200, from the emirate of Dubai to Nairobi, were unharmed.
"There was no evacuation and no one was injured," Barton said.
"We do not know what caused the indicator light to come on, the problem is being checked out now."
In Aden, airport sources said the aircraft had been hijacked.
