The Afghan Islamic Press said on Monday that the American troops in Afghanistan had arrested Abdul Haq Wasiq, the deputy head of the Taliban regime's intelligence department.
He was arrested last week in the town of Maqaur in the central province of Ghazni, the Pakistan-based news agency said.
The US wants to question detained members of the Taliban and the Al Qaeda network for clues to the whereabouts of Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden, who is allegedly behind the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.
