Pakistan has 139 Al Qaeda fighters in its custody, Dawn newspaper said on Monday.
The prisoners are reportedly being held at the Kohat prison in northern Pakistan, where security has been tightened and common criminals have been shifted out to other jails.
The daily added that seven more injured fighters were under guard in a military hospital in the Kohat town.
The report quoting the head of Kohat prison, Colonel Syed Tariq, said that 'people from all over the world' were among the Al Qaeda fighters.
He said that a joint international interrogation team would decide the fate of the captured fighters.
The United States has said it wants to question the fighters.
Dawn also said more fighters were expected to be shipped to Kohat jail in coming days from the town of Parachinar, near the mountain border with Afghanistan.
